Disney streaming service
Disney Streaming Services is a direct-to-consumer streaming service company owned by The Walt Disney Company through its Direct-to-Consumer and International division. The service was announced in August 2017.
It has been announced that the service will host around 7000 episodes of television and 500 movies.
Disney announced an increase in its ownership of the company with its plans to launch a branded direct to consumer streaming service based on technology from BAMTech, after Disney ends a distribution agreement deal with Netflix in 2019. BAMTech named Kevin Swint as senior vice president and general manager of the Disney forthcoming streaming service in January 2018 with Agnes Chu as programming executive.
On March 22, 2018, Disney Streaming Services LLC was formed and it was reported that Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures marketing president Ricky Strauss had been transferred to president of content and marketing for the Disney streaming service over senior vice president Agnes Chu.
