Zach Katz

Zach Katz is a music industry executive and investor as a founder and partner of the music business investment firm Raised in Space.

Katz previously served as BMG US president, repertoire and marketing, spearheading both music publishing and recordings. Katz and his team were in charge of BMG US rosters including music publishing star writers such as Bruno Mars, will.i.am, DJ Snake John Legend, Pitbull, Frank Ocean and Quincy Jones and in recordings artists such as blink-182, Janet Jackson, Alabama, Iron Maiden, Scarface and OK Go.

Katz began his career at BMG in 2012 as chief creative officer. Katz brought BMG a run of chart success which boosted the company’s market share to double digits. Key signings Katz has overseen include Bebe Rexha, DJ Snake, Monsters & Strangerz, John Ryan, Bibi Bourelly, The Strokes, Greg Wells, Verse Simmonds, Gente De Zona and Nathaniel Rateliff.

Prior to BMG, Katz co-founded record label Beluga Heights with his client/partner JR Rotem, where they scored multi-million dollar album sales and tens of millions of singles sales with artists including Jason Derulo and Sean Kingston. Previously he served as GM of Groove Attack USA. He began his career in 1996 as a music attorney.

In February, 2019, it was announced that Katz teamed up with Scooter Braun’s Ithaca Holdings to launch Raised In Space Enterprises, a new music biz funding group which will “forge proactive collaboration between music and technology with investments ranging from $500,000 to $5 million”1
