Shasta Ventures

Shasta Ventures is a leading early-stage venture capital firm partnering with bold creative entrepreneurs who are passionate about building epic products and amazing experiences. Founded in 2004, Shasta Ventures has more than $1B under management investing in enterprise and consumer companies with a deep focus on emerging platforms. The firm was founded by Robert Coneybeer and Ravi Mohan; partners include Nitin Chopra and Jacob Mullins.

Shasta invests early, typically seed and series A, reserving follow-on capital for future rounds of financing to grow with the companies we back. They are highly selective, averaging only 8-10 investments per year, allowing our team to focus on helping entrepreneurs be really successful. In 2017, Shasta Ventures announced their Camera Fund believing in backing visionaries developing great ideas into epic products on the newest technology platforms – Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, and camera-first Computer Vision. A dedicated pre-seed & seed fund vehicle, the Shasta Camera Fund is open to investing in 30 companies and they’ve already invested in Numina, 6D.AI], Octo, Fable Studios, Rosie, and 8th Wall.

Other investments, particularly in media include Interplay Learning, Plays.tv, Frame.io, Doctor on Demand, Brandcast, Beautiful AI, Canva, Adometry, CameraIQ, Smule, Classdojo, Data.world, Kapwing, Logoworks, mochi, and Leaftail Labs.

Rob Coneybeer is a regular co-host on LaunchPad, a live broadcast on SiriusXM satellite radio airing Wednesdays at 7 pm ET. Produced by Wharton’s Business Radio, the call-in show provides insights and first-hand accounts from founders, VCs, and serial entrepreneurs on topics ranging from how to develop an idea and raise capital to figuring out the exit strategy.1
