Jim Lanzone Jim Lanzone is the Chief Digital Officer of CBS Corporation and CEO of CBS Interactive, a top 10 consumer Internet property with nearly 300 million users worldwide. One of the world’s largest digital media companies and a subsidiary of CBS Corporation (NYSE: CBS), CBS Interactive properties include CBS.com, CBS All Access, CNET, CBS Sports Digital, CBSNews Digital, GameSpot, Last.fm, Metacritic, 24/7 Sports, Scout Media, TVGuide Digital, Chowhound, ZDNet, MaxPreps, MetroLyrics and Download.com. Jim joined CBS Interactive in March 2011 when CBS Corporation purchased Clicker Media, an Internet video search engine and navigation guide, where he was co-founder and Chief Executive Officer.
Before founding Clicker (funded by venture capital firms Benchmark Capital, Redpoint Ventures, Qualcomm Ventures, and Allen & Company, among others), Jim served as Chief Executive Officer of Ask.com (formerly Ask Jeeves), a top 10 consumer Internet property and leading search engine owned by IAC/InterActiveCorp (NASDAQ: IACI). Prior to his role as CEO, Lanzone served as General Manager of Ask Jeeves U.S. Lanzone joined Ask Jeeves as vice president of product management in 2001 after its acquisition of eTour.com, a website discovery service founded in 1998, where he was co-founder and president. Ask Jeeves was acquired by IAC in 2005.
Jim is the former CEO of Ask.com. After leaving Ask, Lanzone took a position as the Entrepreneur in Residence at Redpoint Ventures.
Previous to his role as CEO of Ask.com, Lanzone served as senior vice president and general manager of Ask.com US, leading product management, marketing and engineering for the Company. Lanzone joined Ask.com as vice president of product management in 2001.
Before moving to Ask.com, Lanzone co-founded eTour, an early provider of information retrieval and cost-per-lead services on the Web, and served as president until it was acquired by Ask.com in May 2001. eTour launched in 1997 and under Lanzone’s direction, became a top 50 website and the Web’s #1 ranked site in user frequency in 1998 and 1999 (Media Metrix). Earlier, Lanzone worked in product marketing for KnowX.com, a division of the Thomson Corporation and one of the Internet’s leading providers of public record search.
