SoundHound

SoundHound turns sound into understanding and actionable meaning. Via their Hound app and Houndify API platform, the company believes in enabling humans to interact with the things around them in the same way we interact with each other: by speaking naturally to mobile phones, cars, TVs, music speakers, coffee machines, and every other part of the emerging ‘connected’ world.

Hound, leverages their proprietary Speech-to-Meaning technology to showcase a ground-breaking smartphone experience. Their SoundHound product applies our technology to music, enabling people to discover, explore, and share the music around them, and even find the name of that song stuck in their heads by singing or humming; through the Houndify platform, they empower developers to be part of the speech-to-meaning revolution.

Founded in 2005 by Keyvan Mohajer, Majid Emami, and James Hom, a great many company have invested in SoundHound, with Kamran Elahian of Global Catalyst Partners, Larry Marcus from Walden Venture Capital, and Jay Eum with Translink Capital on the Board. Additional investors include notable media tech companies and firms including Tencent, orange, Samsung, NVIDIA, HTC, Pear, Cota Capital, Felicis Ventures, Kleiner Perkins, Amidzad Partners, and Sompo Japan Nipponkoa
