GV, Launched as Google Ventures by Bill Maris in 2009, is the venture capital investment arm of Alphabet Inc. and provides seed, venture, and growth stage funding to technology companies. The firm operates independently from Google and makes financially driven investment decisions.[1]

Led by Managing Partner and CEO, David Krane, the team includes notable resources and partners in media innovation, including Terri Burns, former associate product manager at Twitter, Tom Hulme, former design director at IDEO Europe, tech journalist M.G. Siegler who has invested in Medium, Jessica Verrilli of #ANGELS and Twitter, Kate Aronowitz who led design at LinkedIn and Facebook, GoPro designer Vanessa Cho, Rueben Antman one of YouTube's engineers, filmmaker Graham Hancock, former editor at Revision3, and former TechCrunch partnership operations' Laura Gifford, among many in media.

While their investments tend to focus on data and enterprise software, we find their portfolio includes independent music rights company Kobalt, online publishing's Medium, and marketing automation platform Hubspot to name a few.[2]
