Chris Howard

Chris Howard is the CEO & Co-Founder of The Rattle – a global collective of artists, tech makers, and startups in music – all focused on creating a cultural renaissance in music.

In the past, Chris has been a prolific builder of projects and companies that aim to push boundaries in entrepreneurship and the creative industries. Having tried and failed at half a dozen ‘traditional’ careers – being a chef, a music producer, a ‘professional cyclist’ and even a spy – Chris cut his teeth at entrepreneurship formally at MIT in 2009. Chris’ research focused on the effects of influence and motivation online, and how advocacy works within communities of creative people. Using this insight, Chris co-founded and led the celebrated Boston startup – Libboo – creating one of the world’s first crowd-sourced science novel and advocacy marketing platform. Other companies Chris has a founding role in include the AI Graph database company Memgraph, the live music advocacy platform VNUE, the computational psychology company Datasine, the learning languages through stories company One Third Stories, and the IOT logistics company Envio.

What all these companies have in common is an appetite to ‘screw things up for the better’ – aiming to foster changes in behavior that promote a better and more honest work/life culture.

Having invested in and helped build over 11 companies, Chris also acts as a resident mentor for MIT and their Global Startup Workshop programs, an educator in entrepreneurship at UCL & Hult International Business School, and a regular Entrepreneur in Residence for leading startup accelerators such as Techstars and MassChallenge.

Right now, Chris’ primary interests are in bringing together culture-makers with startup-techniques – in all industries – that facilitate a new wave of ‘good humans’ and a shared passion for the creative world.
